Before joining the Global National team, Crystal Goomansingh began her broadcast career in radio more than a decade ago. She then made the jump to television broadcasting in Ontario and Alberta before moving back home to work as an anchor and reporter for CBC News at Six in Winnipeg. She has held a number of positions including video journalist, host and reporter.
Crystal’s experience combined with her abilities to drill down to reveal the core issue of a story landed her the position of Manitoba Correspondent for Global National in 2007. Since then, Crystal has reported on the war in Afghanistan, the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and flooding in the Red River Valley.
Crystal’s inquisitive nature leads to uncovering the next story. She approaches every story with passion and emotion, but don’t take her for a pushover. The Winnipeg girl, born and raised, says she lives by one phrase that her mom drilled into her head as a child, “There’s no such word as ‘can’t’.”
Crystal is no stranger to hard work as she thrives in the high pressure and short timeline nature of broadcast journalism. In addition to news, she loves travelling, reading and golfing in her downtime.
