Heavily armed police surrounded a home on Alexander Avenue in Winnipeg’s Weston neighbourhood Friday afternoon after a shooting that left someone seriously hurt.

Just after four-thirty police were called to the 1600 block of Alexander Avenue when neighbours reported hearing shots fired.

Area residents say shots came as a silver PT Cruiser drove past the house. Reports indicate bullet holes are visible on the house.

Police shut down Alexander Avenue at Worth Street as soon as they arrived.

A short time later police received a report of a silver PT Cruiser parked at Health Sciences Centre emergency room. A male patient had arrived with a gunshot wound.

All ambulances were asked to avoid the HSC.

Police are asking drivers to avoid Alexander Ave between Keewatin and Cecil.
