Joe Pascucci is the dean of Global News and Sports. Joe joined Global, then known as CKND, back in 1982 as a sports reporter and weekend anchor. Four years later, he became Sports Director. In 1991, he helped create the nightly sports report “Sportsline” that became a popular fixture for Manitoba's sports fans at 10:30 p.m.

Joe was born in Toronto and graduated from Northern Secondary High School. He then attended Fanshawe College where he graduated from Broadcast Journalism. His first job in broadcasting was at CHEX Radio and TV in Peterborough, Ontario. He later became Sports Director of CHOO Radio in Ajax, Ontario before joining Global in Winnipeg.

Joe has covered many major sports events for Global, including Grey Cups, Stanley Cup playoffs, provincial and World Curling Championships as well as the World Junior Hockey Championships and the Pan Am Games.

His favourite part of the job is telling the stories of athletes and the people who have devoted their time to amateur and pro sports.

Highlights in Joe's career include the numerous Grey Cups he has covered the Sugar Ray Leonard/Donny Lalonde championship fight in Las Vegas and hosting Winnipeg Jets hockey on Global.

A long time fan of International hockey, Joe traveled to Moscow to watch the World Hockey Association All Stars challenge the Soviet Union in the Summit Series of 1974. In 1998, he did the play-by-play commentary when Canada defeated the Soviets in a nationally televised exhibition game, a week before the start of the Winter Olympics in Calgary.
