From the mouths of WAGs
The term 'WAG' was coined by the British press during the last World Cup in 2006 to describe the pack of beautiful women who would accompany the players and watch soccer games from the sidelines. Now, the WAGs (wives and girlfriends of players) get just as much tabloid attention in Europe as their soccer-playing men, as much for their good looks and expensive clothing as their interesting (and often dim-witted) comments.
“Money can be a burden, that’s why I got stressed last year. I had too much too soon. I had a massive house that I couldn’t control or clean, it took all day.”
- Carly Zucker, fiancée of England star and multi-millionaire Joe Cole, reportedly told a reality TV show co-star.
