"It doesn't feel like work." it's how Lorraine Nickel describes her job at Global Winnipeg.
Lorraine has been reporting news since 2002...she began her broadcasting career at Golden West Radio in Steinbach and after four years and completing her journalism degree at Assiniboine Community College in Brandon, took a job at Global Regina in early 2007...five months later, she found herself moving back home to Global Winnipeg.
Born in Steinbach and raised in Gardenton, Manitoba...Lorraine grew up on a dairy farm in a tiny town most people have never heard of.
"I’m inspired by the daily challenges of getting a story to air and meeting tight deadlines. But it's the people behind the story that make my job worth it."
Lorraine loves reporting mainly because when she wakes up she never knows who she'll meet or where the day will take her.
Her career highlights include covering a breaking story that captured headlines around the world...she went live on Global news casts across Canada and continued covering the story for several days.
Lorraine loves adventure and thrill. She's been skydiving, bungee jumping...and recently rappelled off the side of a 17-story building in downtown Winnipeg for a charity event....yet her greatest fear is water.
If she's not searching for the latest story ideas, Lorraine is with her family and friends...the main reason she returned to Winnipeg.
