NDP MP Pat Martin not hacked, not sorry following language-laced Twitter outburst

*Warning* The following article contains language that some may find offensive.

OTTAWA – NDP Pat Martin is known for his sharp sound bites, but it’s his profanity-laced Twitter tirade that is making news on Thursday.

Martin, frustrated by the Conservatives habit of shutting down debate on bills, aired his grievances on Twitter Wednesday night, tweeting:

This is a fucking disgrace...closure again. And on the Budget! There's not a democracy in the world that would tolerate this jackboot shit

But it wasn’t just Conservatives that were the target of the tirade. Some of Martin’s online followers didn’t appreciate his comments and let him know.

One tweeted:

@PatMartinMP Sad how a foul mouth socialist capitalizes "Budget" but not "god" #ndp#cdnpoli

To that, Martin replied:

Another follower tweeted:

I never tweet "politics" but @patmartinmp is an absolute disgrace to the party/riding he represents & Cdn political system. #Winnipeg

Martin didn’t seem to agree, tweeting back:

One shocked reader asked Martin if his Twitter account has been hacked. Martin tweeted it had not.

@briar27 nope. Not hacked. Just truly pissed off...you should have seen them last night laughing and joking in their smug ignorance

"His language was not appropriate and could have been offensive to some. That said, the Conservatives' actions are not appropriate in a democracy and offensive to all Canadians,” said NDP interim leader Nycole Turmel of Martin’s comments.
