Kate Gajdosik joined Global Winnipeg in September 2011 as Weather Specialist on the Evening News at 6pm, Prime News at 10pm, and News Final at 11pm.

Originally from Winnipeg, Kate spent the last 17 years living in Vancouver working in film, television, and radio. She was a reporter for several Vancouver television and radio stations including Global BC, AM 730, CKNW, and Talk 1410AM where she co-hosted the afternoon drive show.

Most recently, Kate filled multiple roles at CTV BC including airborne helicopter reporter, news anchor, and weekend weather anchor.

In 2006, Kate graduated with Honours from the Broadcast Journalism program at BCIT in Vancouver but she got her start in television behind the scenes as a technician at a small television station in Denver, Colorado. Her career moved her in front of the camera after she left Denver for Vancouver in 1994.

Kate is thrilled to be back home in Winnipeg delivering the most accurate weather forecast to Manitobans as well as hosting Global’s “Heart of the Community” series and acting as the station’s community ambassador.

An avid animal lover and activist, Kate last year became a foster parent with the BC SPCA, but she realized very quickly how easy it is to get attached and as such has adopted both little animals that temporarily came into her care.
Kate is not only an anchor and reporter in real life but has portrayed those roles in several feature films including “The Big Year”, “Tron: Legacy”, “The Doomsday Prophecy”, “Call Me Mrs. Miracle”, and television series “The Killing”, “Hellcats”, and “Psych”.

In her off time, she enjoys running, travel, movies, and photography, and her guilty pleasures include exquisite cuisine, dark chocolate, and fantastic wine!
