Born and raised in Portage la Prairie, Jeff has now lived in Winnipeg for over half his life. With an honours degree in political science from the University of Manitoba, he worked several years as a radio reporter before making the transition to television news.

He has fond memories of the Winnipeg Jets era and has always been a sports fan. One of his sports highlights was a media scrum when Pete Rose was in Winnipeg for a speaking engagement. Jeff says, “He walked in with his alligator boots and Herb Tarlek (WKRP) plaid suit and had all the reporters in stitches for half an hour.”

He also enjoys covering elections and has spent several years covering the Manitoba Legislature. In fact, he remembers leaving the Manitoba Legislature Christmas party to cover the shooting on Jubilee when three police officers were shot.

The night that will always stand out in Jeff’s mind was when he was called to the deadly fire that killed two fire fighters and injured four others in St. Boniface. He will never forget the ice that covered the fire fighters who worked all night in minus 39 temperatures, knowing they lost two of their brothers.

Jeff is most proud of an investigative fraud story he broke involving a financial institution and a broker, and he looks forward to scooping the next big story for Global Winnipeg viewers.
