A car crash in St. Vital has claimed two young lives. It happened Friday night on Bishop Grandin Boulevard.

Police have not identified the victims, who are all in their 20s, but friends and family are sharing their grief.

Crumpled metal is all that is left of the two-door blue Infiniti.

Police say the car with four occupants spun out of control on Bishop Grandin Boulevard near River Road and slammed into a light standard around 11:30 p.m. Friday night.

The car was sheered in half, killing the driver and the front seat passenger. Somehow, two other men in the vehicle survived the crash.

“One is in serious condition at this time in hospital with non life-threatening injuries and the fourth male is in stable condition in hospital," said Cst. Jacqueline Chaput of the Winnipeg Police Service.

All four men in the vehicle are believed to be lifelong friends. Global News has learned one of the men who died is Swan River native Adam Gattinger. Dozens of people are joining a Facebook tribute page to Gattinger by the hour.

Friends have left messages offering their condolences to Gattinger's family. Others wrote how much the young man will be missed. Co-workers posted a note about Gattinger's sense of humour and how much fun it was to be around him.

Friends have identified Tyler Musey as the other man who died in the crash.

Police are still investigating what caused the crash, but they do believe speed may have played a role in the tragic accident.

“The vehicle did sustain significant damage and that's another reason officers - that's another thing that leads officers to believe that speed may have contributed to this crash,” says Cst. Chaput.

Sources say horrified friends of the victims travelling behind the Infiniti witnessed the accident.
