Heather Steele
Night Watch Reporter
Born in... and truly 'in love' with Winnipeg, her career in journalism kicked off in her home city when she began freelancing for local stations in 2005. Her next reporting gig took her to the Wheat City where she worked as a reporter at Brandon's former CKX News.
The chance to cover news full time for Winnipeggers brought her back home in 2007 when she joined a local morning show, first as a reporter, then as a co-host and weather anchor. Now she's grateful to return to her true love of reporting as Global Winnipeg's Night Watch reporter. After all, the city doesn't stop at 6 o'clock and neither does Heather's curiosity or passion for news.
With her mornings free you'll spot Heather on the golf course often. But with bitterness in her voice, she'll tell you: though she has several golf pros in her family, she didn't inherit ANY of the skill naturally! She's even converted her husband to a golfer...but now he, too, beats her at the game.
When she's not on the golf course you can find her enjoying time at the lake with family or soaking up all the socializing she can with her friends. Heather also takes in the outdoors by running. She's completed several half and full marathons …still she does not consider herself a runner!?
What she loves most about her job: "There is no better way to meet great people in our city, than by doing this job. Every day brings new stories and new faces, making it impossible for it to feel like work."
