A Winnipeg Transit driver has been charged after one of his passengers was hit by the bus. 

The 42-year old bus driver is charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm after the city bus he was driving hit an 84-year-old pedestrian on the Chief Peguis Trail Bridge on December 20th. 

Police say the elderly man was injured while getting of the bus at a designated stop. 

He suffered serious lower body injuries and was taken to hospital in critical condition. 

The bus driver has been released on a promise to appear in court.
